UpFront: Leading Our PSW and Going Farther Together

by Ryan Miller, PharmD, BCPS

I don’t typically put great stock in quotes. However, one that’s been resonating with me a lot lately is, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Upon looking for the origins of this quote, and given how many times I’ve heard it, it’s surprisingly unclear where it came from. While it’s been referenced in some form by leaders in many different areas of society over time, the conceptual basis appears to be rooted in proverbs from the African continent (at least according to my highly rigorous Google search). My point is that people trying to make some type of impact on their families, groups, tribes, or society have been talking about this for a long time. PSW was literally created on the foundation of One Voice and One Vision for all pharmacy in Wisconsin—in short, this concept of going far, together, is woven into that ethos of PSW’s DNA.
