Up Front: Caring, Acting, Changing: Why Advocacy Matters

On the wall in my office is a quote by Dr. Seuss: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” While written for a children’s book, these words serve as a daily reminder of why advocacy matters. Advocacy is about caring. It’s about refusing to accept the status quo when that status quo harms people, limits opportunity, or creates unnecessary barriers. It’s about standing up for the health and well-being of our patients, our profession, and our communities.
