This article explores how pharmacy preceptors can support final-year students as they navigate student loan repayment, budgeting, professional expenses, benefits packages, job offers, and potential relocation costs.
Preceptors can play a meaningful mentorship role by sharing their own experiences, helping learners identify reliable resources, and encouraging students to connect financial decisions with their career goals and long-term well-being. Practical discussion topics include loan repayment options, licensure and exam costs, liability insurance, compensation and benefit structures, budgeting strategies, and financial considerations for residency- or fellowship-bound students. The article also includes a comparison of selected budgeting tools and templates to help students begin building sustainable financial habits.
