Integration of Pharmacists into Rapid Response Teams: An Evidence-based Review

Rapid response teams (RRTs) are deployed as a strategy to provide timely interventions to hospitalized patients showing signs of clinical deterioration, with the goal of preventing serious adverse events, including cardiac arrest. Recent survey data suggests a growing trend of pharmacist participation in RRTs within hospitals throughout the US. This review examines the role of pharmacists within this expanding area of practice and the evidence supporting their contributions to medication management and patient care during hospital emergencies.
