Chet Johnson Drugs blends grand tradition and forward-facing future each day. The pharmacy has served Amery, WI, for almost a century (94 years). Currently, Matthew Johnson, RPh, is the owner of Chet Johnson Drugs, the third generation of a family business. Featuring an ice cream counter, compounding services, and artificial intelligence (AI) robots, they open at eight in the morning and "try to do everything for everybody", as a traditional retail pharmacy does. The pharmacists process new prescriptions, prepare sync meds for the next week or two, provide vaccinations, and counsel patients. Many patients appreciate assistance in navigating a Medicare Part D insurance plan that fits both the patient and the pharmacy. The AI robots work overnight and need a human touch to correct rejects (such as confused brand names), label printing, and double-checking in the morning.
